Hi my name is Natalie Moore. I was born and raised in Carlsbad. I went to Magnolia Elementary, Valley Jr. High and Carlsbad High School. In fact, my whole educational career has been in Northern county. After, graduating from Carlsbad High School in 2005 I transferred to Palomar. From Palomar I transferred here to CSUSM. This spring I got my BA from CSUSM in Human Development. CSUSM has a great long distance running coach and I had the opportunity to run at CSUSM for two seasons. One of my Human Development classes here at CSUSM required that I participated in community service. So, I choose to work at a place called Ivey Ranch in Oceanside. This school works with special needs children. While, volunteering here I decided that I wanted to work with special needs children as a career. Moreover, after this opportunity I knew I wanted to pursue a teaching degree after I finished my BA.
As far as my technology background goes I would say I am in the process of becoming more technologically sound. When, I transferred to CSUSM they still required that we take the computer test; however, they took it away before I graduated so I ended up not having to take it. I have spent my whole life on PC's so I would say I savvy when it comes to working with Word, Excel, ect. Also, I used a photography editing program called photosuite on a PC. Last semester one of my classes required that I use SPSS so I know how to use this program on a PC too. Surprisingly, I ended up getting a MAC laptop as my graduation present instead of a PC. I choose a MAC for the very same reasons that we discussed in class. I have heard that they are more reliable, get less viruses and last longer than PCs. Subsequently, I am not sure how to work everything on my computer; however, I am hopeful that this class will help build on my MAC knowledge basis.
The mission statement is part of the reason why I decided to continue my college career with CSUSM. I feel that my education teachers here and my past Human Development teachers are committed and have lived up to this mission statement. Having teachers that believe in this mission statement and actually live up to makes me want to continue being a part of the credential program here at CSUSM.
Hey Natalie, I am almost in the same situation as you since I graduated from CSUSM and have also decided to return to finish my education. It is good to know that the teachers here are dedicated always willing to help out. You're a lot braver than me when it comes to technology though. I've always been a PC user and this class has now forced me to learn to use a MAC.
